Meet Farhan – Transfer Pricing Director in our Tax team

I’d held Big 4 leadership roles in the UK and overseas, initially starting out in international tax and then moving into transfer pricing as it became a related hot topic for multinational groups. Pivoting my role and pursuing a career in transfer pricing has definitely been the right choice for me, and I haven’t looked back; so securing a role at PKF in Transfer Pricing, where I’m able to build my own team from the ground up, has been an ideal opportunity for me.

I live in Manchester and have always enjoyed working in London – so with PKF having offices in London, Leeds and Manchester, it felt like the role was meant to be! I work in the London office frequently but I am based in Manchester. I really enjoy working across two major UK cities, and the arrangement also helps me to have a good work-life balance.

Ensuring that we’re raising awareness of our transfer pricing services is one of my main priorities. Talking to clients and understanding their business is a major part of my role – it helps me to identify their cross-border tax issues, and then find commercial solutions.

I also work with people from across the firm to understand how my team can support their clients. At PKF, there’s a collaborative feel throughout the firm. People support each other and work together to get the right outcome for our clients. That’s vital in transfer pricing as the rules can impact companies in various ways, including as part of their audit, tax reporting, capital raising and deals strategy.

Our team can help businesses develop, implement, document and defend transfer pricing arrangements in the UK and globally. This means working with a large variety of businesses, meeting and speaking with people from all around the world.

Being given the opportunity to establish my own team has been a fantastic experience. Finding individuals who are curious and authentic is important for this role, and to be able to build a team with people who really personify these values has been rewarding. Within a short period of time, my team has won multiple projects and is continuing to grow.

PKF’s culture really does stand out, and our Values come through in how we treat each other. There’s a strong team environment both professionally and personally, and a real emphasis on individuals, and their learning and development. The continuous and rapid growth of the firm creates momentum for people to advance their careers, which is really exciting and is reflected in our recent promotions at all levels of the business.
